Weekly News: Nokia WP8 Smartphone Announced, New iPhone to be Unveiled This Week
September has been filled with one new product announcement after another. During the IFA exhibition, major spotlights have been directed toward a variety of next-gen smartphones and tablets, some of which included the Windows 8 platform. In spite of this, Microsoft and Nokia were able to leave a strong impression with their respectable Windows Phone 8 announcement, during which Nokia unveiled its flagship and middle-end smartphones. The former, known as Lumia 920, generated a bit of controversy when a different recording device was used during a promotional video to demonstrate the phone’s “clear view” camera technology. The Finnish company has since apologized and showcased the actual smartphone’s recording footage. Regardless of the error, Nokia remain confident about what its new product can accomplish. Given that its stock prices have dipped by 15.9%, the company would really need to intensify its efforts in order to reclaim its position within the market.
With Amazon having introduced its next-gen Kindle devices last week, the subsequent events that are set to follow include Apple’s and HTC’s mysterious announcements. It is likely that before the Christmas shopping season arrives, all the manufacturers will have already begun ramping up their production intensity. With Apple rumored to promote eight new products out of its four major product lines, it is not unreasonable to expect the sudden surge of a myriad of these new products. In addition to the aforementioned events, the other major topics worth noting include: the Xiaomi Phone’s Q&A event, Media Tek’s general purpose chips, the rise of eMCP, and the situation surrounding Samsung’s popular new Galaxy smartphone, which faces the risk of being banned in certain markets.
