According to DRAMeXchange, a research department of Trendforce, 1H’Jan. contract price is reaching the bottom. DDR3 2GB “Average” contract price is $17(USD) while $16 for “Low” contract price. The decline is narrowed to 5%-6% from 10% in previous term. 2H’Jan. contract price is still under negotiation but we expect price will remain stable and mildly decline.

Market expected NAND Flash price would weaken after year-end holiday inventory re-stocking peak after November. However, Toshiba power outage accident made memory card customers to initiate inventory replenishment for Chinese New Year holiday starting from mid-Dec. given the expectation sentiment on output shortage in January.

Solid-State Drive is always the potential target from Flash vendor perspective since the flash consumption is several times of the consumption from UFD and memory card. From consumer views, SSD transmission speed is twice faster than traditional HDD (Hard-Disk Drive) and featured with better power consumption and anti-shocking design.

According to DRAMeXchange, the research department of Trendforce, facing the strong challenge from iPad, most PC and mobile vendors are accelerating their tablet launch in 2H10. In order to compete with iPad, non-iPad tablet is designed with outperformed hardware spectrum such as more powerful processor performance, larger storage space and open hardware/software competitiveness (USB and Adobe Flash support).

According to DRAMeXchange, the research department of Trendforce, 2H’Dec. contract price continued the downward pattern that DDR3 2GB contract“ Average” declined 10% to US$18($0.97/1Gb) from US$20($1.09/1Gb). Contract “Low ”dropped 10.5% to US$17($0.91/1Gb).

Although inventory replenishment peak for year-end hot sales is over, some memory card and UFD makers are re-stocking in small volume given the dropping inventory level at early December, it resulted in the stabilizing NAND Flash price.

According to DRAMeXchange, a research division of Trendforce, with the higher acceptance from consumers, tablet PC is expected to become the spotlight in the Christmas holiday sales. Most vendors are accelerating the tablet PC launch.

According to DRAMeXchange, the research department of Trendforce, 2H’Nov. DDR3 2GB “Average” contract price declined 12% to US$22 from US$25 while “Low” contract price dropped 12.5% to US$21. In 4Q10, DRAM vendors continued increasing output supply but PC demand is shrinking month by month.

According to DRAMeXchange, the research department of Trendforce Corp., as for 2011 NAND Flash market outlook, we expect seasonality for 2H11 hot-season effect to be improved compared with 2H10 since economic recovery for advanced countries will further improve as well, given the 2011 global economic recovery progress is slightly slower-than-expected.

According to DRAMeXchange, the research department of Trendforce, 2011 DT shipment increase 6.1% YoY to 127M units while notebook (netbook included) increase 15.4% YoY to 222.7M units. Netbook declined 2% YoY to 32.6M units.
