x16 is on serious shortage?
16X16 is serious shortage.
Due to lots of new models of notebook/laptop PC adopting the new O/S-XP, demand for 256MB memory is stronger than ever especially on the item 256Mb-16x16 configuration SDRAM. The biggest supply on this item is Samsung who is very tight on allocating the supply to their OEM customers right now. Price on this particular item has been risen to around $9 per-chip and higher, but still cannot get the allocation and can hardly find it from spot market.
It turns almost all x16 configuration items' price follows the uptrend in the same time. Currently, 4x16 (64Mb) is also pretty tight supply on market due to lacking of lots of production on this item and strong demand from graphic card.
Contract price succeeds in continue up.
Major benefit from tight control of output from DRAM makers, all the contract prices are successful continuing to spurt up. The uncertainty and doubt on the spot market have been erased by "fact". Spot price began to follow the trend.
